"There's magic in what you do - the blend of guitars and voices. I'm becoming quite a fan!" - Brooks Williams
Tricia – a Plymouth maid, born and bred. Honed her skills on cruise ships and the folk clubs of Plymouth and Aberdeen along with the occasional spot on local TV. A writer of finely crafted songs she is recognised for her delicate guitar playing and clear voice.
John – a Scouser in exile he has played folk clubs in the north east and the midlands before relocating to Devon. A songwriter in his own right and a multi-instrumentalist he makes a strong contribution to Silvington’s trademark harmonies.
Meeting as members of Folk on the Moor, now based once again at The Moorland Hotel, Wotter, they began collaborating in 2016. It was indeed folk at first sight. They have 6 albums to their name so far, many of the self-penned songs the result of a synergy which means that the whole is more than the sum of its parts. Their latest offering, “Shadows on the Sand” features 12 original songs all located in Cornwall.
Their vocal and instrumental blends are
recognised by club and festival audiences as well
as fellow performers.
Now in their 10th year of collaborating, they have a new album, "Nylon and Steel" about to go into production and will celebrate with an anniversary concert later in 2026
A selection of their albums can be found on Bandcamp (www.silvington.bandcamp.com) and there are individual tracks on SoundCloud (username bootleian)

The Hotel on the Island (swing band version feat. the late John Wurr)
"Particular thanks to John and Tricia of Silvington; what a fantastic duo. Their latest song ‘Nylon and Steel’ was inspired by the beautiful sounds they get from combining Tricia’s nylon string guitar with John’s steel string and that, combined with their lovely harmonies and haunting self-penned songs makes them a great act."
"Plymouth-based guests Silvington showed off their quite amazing songwriting talents, great story telling songs with some really classy arrangements had the audience spellbound.
The Plymouth-based duo of Tricia Moore and John Connor write some top songs based on stories and fables from the South-West of England and present them with real style and complimentary arrangements. The audience loved them - so did we, so much so that we have already asked them to return next year!
Keep an eye open for this duo, it is well worth catching them (or of course you could wait until next year and come and see them at Bedworth!)"
Tricia Moore and John Connor make up this duo of gifted acoustic guitarists with a folksy sound at times a little more than reminiscent of Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger. Many of the songs on the evening's playlist were written by themselves - several have a strong Devonian flavour and feature some of our better known characters.
Many of their other songs had a strong narrative quality, not least those written for their album "A Song In Every Window". One of their most recent compositions which was actually premiered on the night was a tribute to the sacrifices made during Exercise Tiger.
In addition to their own songs the duo also gave a taste of others which fitted in very well with their style of singing. Particularly effective were their versions of Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly" and the Crystal Gayle hit from the seventies "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue". Sting's "Fields Of Gold rounded off their selection of covers. The whole evening was deemed most enjoyable
